What we aim for
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We test with a keyboard, with screen readers and at large text sizes, and we fix problems as we find them.
What the site does
- Keyboard. Every link, button and form can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus ring. A Skip to content link is the first thing on every page. Press / anywhere to search the site with Sensi.
- Screen readers. Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels. Animated headings keep a plain copy of their text for screen readers. Images have text alternatives; decorative ones are hidden.
- Light and dark. Switch between the dark forge and polished light steel with the switch in the header. Your choice is remembered.
- Sensi. The guide opens from the button in the bottom-left corner, closes with Esc, and every message is text. Everything Sensi can do is also possible through the contact form, WhatsApp, phone or email.
- Forms. Every field has a label, errors are described in words, and nothing depends on colour alone.
- Zoom. Pages reflow at 200% zoom and on narrow screens without sideways scrolling.
Controls you can change
Open Sensi and choose Controls to change the theme, turn sound on or off (it is off unless you turn it on), reduce motion, make the text bigger, switch on high contrast, or turn off the sparks that follow the cursor. Sensi can also read the page aloud and list the sections of any page so you can jump straight to one.
Motion and 3D
The liquid-steel sculptures, the sparks, the molten page transitions, the heat effect on headings and the cursor effects are decoration. If your device is set to reduce motion, or you choose Reduce motion in Sensi's controls, the site respects it: animations stop travelling, the intro is skipped and the sculptures stand still. On less powerful devices, and when your browser asks to save data, the 3D sculptures are switched off automatically.
Known limitations
- The 3D sculptures, the secrets and the mini game are visual. Everything they lead to is also available as ordinary links and buttons.
- Screenshots of client websites show sites we built but do not control; the live sites may differ.
- Some third-party content, such as Google Maps, follows its provider's accessibility.
